The memorial service celebrating and honoring the life of Bill D. Kern, 74, of Enid, will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday March 2, 2021 in the Garland Road Baptist Church with Pastor Billy Benson officiating. Services will be live streamed on the Brown-Cumming Funeral Home Facebook page. Complete cremation care and services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
He was born to Egbert and Opal Kern on June 3, 1946 in Tuttle Oklahoma.
He was raised and educated in Tuttle attending Tuttle High School.
He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After his service to his country, he returned to Tuttle and moved to Shawnee working at the Shawnee Steel Company.
He married his young bride Maria Marra at the age of 20 on February 10, 1967 in Shawnee and from this union came their two children, Angela and Billy.
The couple made their home in Shawnee for the next four years; but soon after moved to Oklahoma City where Bill worked as a driver for Dolese Concrete Company for the next ten years. The family then moved to Mid-West City where he worked at the AMPI Milk Plant. While still working for AMPI, Bill moved his family to Mustang where they lived until 1998.
In 1998 he moved to Enid where he met and married his second wife Edna W. Chapmen. On June 13, 1998 they married. In 2002 he was able to enjoy cross country trips with his wife Edna. They enjoyed their blended family, and riding on the motorcycle. They traveled throughout the country and even took a 3 month ride and saw Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Arizona, Oregon, Canada and many many more states. They stayed married for 21 years until Edna’s passing.
On March 30, 2020 he married his wife Linda Watson in a simple backyard wedding at their home due to the pandemic. Although their time was cut short, they brought happiness and laughter to each other’s life.
Bill was a simple man with a tireless work ethic. He was an avid motorcyclist and a longtime member of the Christian Motorcycle Association.
He was an accomplished pool player, and often a lucrative one.
He was a naturally gifted woodworker and could make anything from detailed furniture to pool tables. He even made his own machines for woodworking. He always had a project and was always remodeling or improving a previous project.
He was a jokester and even had a few card and magic tricks he enjoyed sharing with his grandchildren. He was an avid baseball fan and maybe a more avid baseball card collector.
He was survived by his Sister Wanda, Nephews Jimmy Dale and James, and Niece Leslie. By his wife of the home, Son in Texas- Billy Dale Kern, wife Catherine and grandchildren Matthew and Noah. Daughter Angela Villarreal and husband Rene who reside here in Oklahoma. Granddaughter Kayla Campbell, husband Gregory and Great-Grandson Gregory David from Florida.
He was also survived by his step daughter Kerri and five grandchildren: Benjamin, Elizabeth, Abigail, Rebekah, and Suzannah. His step daughter Tonya and granddaughter Zoelyn.
He is preceded in death by his parents, His 2 nd wife Edna, and sister Joyce.
