The memorial services celebrating and honoring the life of Erma Ruth (Blair) Cleeton will be held Thursday April 2, 2026 at 7:00pm in the back room at Jezebel’s Emporium and Tea Room located at 121 E. Broadway in Enid. Complete cremation care and services under the direction of Brown-Cummings, A life celebration home.

Erma was born February 17, 1934, to Robert and Julia Butterfield Blair in Rapid City, South Dakota.

She was raised and educated in Rapid City attending Rapid City High School.

She married Richard Shelite April 5, 1951, in San Louis Obispo, California where they made their home, from this marriage were three children, Richard Shelite Jr. Shirley McCoy (David) and Teresa Vaughn (Larry). The family later moved to Medicine Lodge, Kansas where she worked in the Agriculture industry and in retail while raising her children. She later moved to Shandon, California, Casmalia, California, Santa Maria, California and in 1973 moved to Enid, Oklahoma to be near family. She then worked throughout the years at Quality Bakery, Woolco, Howard Johnson’s, TG&Y, Southgate Motel, Skipper's Trailer Park, Adair Cleaners, and was a housekeeper for several families. She spent many years caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was fiercely independent and spent most of her life taking care of other people. She enjoyed going to garage sales, sewing, watching her shows, and catching up on how everyone was doing.

She is survived by one daughter Shirley McCoy, one son in law Larry Vaughn, five granddaughters, Jennifer Schweer Diller (Roger), Tequilla Shelite, Tammy Wilson (Marty), Amanda Kerr (Justin) and Melissa LeGrand; eleven great grandchildren, Jacob Diller, Christopher Diller, Gracie Diller, Bailey Wilson (Alex), Madison Wilson (Terrell) Peyton Wilson, Wyatt Wilson (Alyssa), Addison Buller (Braxton), Trenton Kerr (Austin), Drake McMillan, and David McMillan; seven great great grand babies, Campbell, Lakelyn, Dax, Knox, Kreed, Kip, Stella, and two coming soon.

Erma was preceded in death by two children, Richard Shelite Jr. and Teresa Vaughn and twelve siblings.

Memorials may be made in her honor to the Gaslight Theatre or the Enid SPCA with Brown-Cummings serving as custodian of the funds.
