The services celebrating and honoring the life of James “Grandpa Love” Walter Wyant will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday November 21, 2024 in the chapel at New Covenant Church, Edmond, OK.
Jim was born December 3, 1933, to Frank James and Gladys Louise Arndt Wyant on the family farm in Elk Point, South Dakota and passed from this life November 8, 2024 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Jim was raised and educated in Elk Point, South Dakota where he graduated from Elk Point High School. In 1953 Jim enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was an Infantryman and honorably served his country until 1956, including a tour in Panama where he was trained as a Jungle Warfare Specialist. Upon his return to civilian life, he built a career as a sales professional in a number of industries and cities before moving to Dallas, TX where he worked in both sales and collections during the beginning years of the cellular phone revolution. After retirement, he ultimately settled in Edmond, OK to be nearer to his family.
Jim was a lifelong Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins fan. He enjoyed spending time on his computer, being a movie aficionado, and spending time with his family. He had a passion for Greyhound racing. At one point, he even had his own greyhound named Run-a-Muck. In 2022, at the age of 88, he was able to go on an Honor Flight to Washington D.C.
Jim is survived by his children, Tiffany Jedlicka and husband John and Eddie Wyant and wife Anna; grandchildren Emily and Adam Kaiser, Brayden and Jill Prough, Kaleb and Lindsey Prough, Jack and Olivia Jedlicka, Maddie and Zane Long, and Ross Wyant; great-grandchildren Junee, Beau, and Wynn Prough, Etta Kaiser, Ridge Long, and Jay Jedlicka. Siblings Bruce Wyant, Frances Limoges, and Linda and Kenny Irwin.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Gladys Wyant and sister Virginia Gibbs.
Memorials may be made in his honor to “Honor Flight” with Brown-Cummings serving as custodian of the funds.
