The Graveside Memorial services celebrating and honoring the life of Jean Pratt, 85, of Lahoma will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday December 13, 2025, in the Memorial Park Cemetery with Chaplain Gary Miller officiating. Open Visitation will be held November 24, 2025 – November 26, 2025, in the Brown-Cummings celebration home. Complete cremation and services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings, A life celebration home.
Jean passed away Wednesday, November 19th, 2025, at her residence in Lahoma, Oklahoma.
Born October 15th, 1940, in Nevada, Missouri, she was the daughter of Alva and Lois Palmer.
Jean furthered her education and received an associate degree in Science at Northern Oklahoma College, Tonkawa, Oklahoma in 1968 while working as a waitress and raising four children on her own. After receiving her degree, she went to work for Conoco in the Accounting department. After working several years in the Accounting department, she then became the first female Oil Gauger for Conoco, she remained in this position until 1978. She was a longtime volunteer for Hospice Circle of Love.
Jean married the love of her life, Jim Pratt, on April 7th, 1978, in Newkirk, Oklahoma. They spent many summers in Gunnison, Colorado and a few winters in Progresso, Texas. They enjoyed visiting their grandchildren and having them join them in Gunnison, Colorado.
She is survived by a daughter Cathy (Cliff) Dykes, of Greenville, South Carolina; a son Steven (Jerri) McKnight, of Coldwater, Kansas; a daughter Debra (Eliazar) Galvan, of Kingwood, Texas; A daughter Cindy Shurtz, of Arkansas City, Kansas, a daughter in law Cindy Pratt, of Medford, Oklahoma; siblings, Larry (Marilyn) Dillon, Connie West, Terry Dillon, Jerry (Kimberly) Dwyer, Michael Dwyer, and Dorothy Ross. She was also blessed with fourteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Jim, she was preceded in death by her parents, alva and Lois; her siblings Alva (Buddy) Palmer and Melvin Dillon, a daughter, Gina Riemann; a son Ronnie Pratt; a son in law Wayne Shurtz; and a grandson Ronald Wayne Shurtz.
Memorials may be made in her honor to Hospice Circle of Love with Brown-Cummings serving as custodian of the funds.
