The services celebrating and honoring the life of Rose Mary Baker, 79, of Enid, will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday October 24, 2025 in the Mt. Olive Cemetery, Pittsburg, Kansas under the direction of Brown-Cummings, A life celebration home.
Rosie was born January 10, 1946 to William Free Jr. and Marjorie May (Wade) Free in Kansas City, Missouri and passed from this life surrounded by her family October 18, 2025 in Enid, Oklahoma.
She was raised and educated in Pittsburg, Kansasgraduating from Pittsburg High School with the class of 1964. After high school she worked as a LawyersAssistant for Guy Von Schultz. She married James Baker Sr. in 1968 in Perry, Oklahoma. The couple moved to Enid in the same year. She began working for Orkin Pest Control as the Office Manager and Bookkeeper where she worked for three years. She attended Autry Technology Center in Enid and received completion certificates for WordPerfect-Word Processing in 1989, Introduction to Microsoft Office in 1999. She then began her career as a secretary at GEFCO. She retired from GEFCO after thirty eight years. She was always a very bright and cheerful person. She enjoyed bird watching, scrolling Facebook, shopping, and spoiling her grandkids and listening to Elvis Presley and Patsy Cline.
She is survived by her husband Jim Baker Sr., of the home, her siblings, Beverly Glaves of El Dorado, KS and Donald and Nancy Free of Pittsburg, KS, her children, Coral Baker of Augusta, KS, Sherry Baker of El Dorado, KS and one son-in-law Kevin Wines, Enid, OK, nine grandchildren, Stacy &Sara Baker, DJ Heath, Joy Meade, Kristen & Steve Benton, Nicky Mesa, Sherree Osland, Mike Baker, Heather & Tatum Kegin, Alexa & Jeff Nathan. Nineteen great grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren; and a multitude of extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents William and Marjorie (Wade) Free, one brother, Michael Free, one daughter, Tracy Wines, one son James Baker Jr., One granddaughter Kristen Benton, one great, grandson Bentley Cooper Beasley.
Rosie was blessed to be surrounded by family who loved and cared for her deeply. Her sister Beverly, her grandchildren, Mike Baker, Heather and Tatum Keginand great, grandchildren, Beau Beasley, Dylan Baker, Olivia McCarter, Mikey Dugger provided unwavering care, compassion, and comfort through every moment.
Memorials may be made in her honor to support Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) with Brown-Cummings serving as custodian of the funds.
