Melody Hagmann

Melody Ann Hagmann was born on Independence Day, July 4, 1965, in Eureka, California, to Mel and Ilene Hagmann (Raines), and passed into the presence of her Lord on December 17, 2025, in Enid, Oklahoma.

She was raised and educated in Northern California and attended the California School for the Deaf in Fremont, graduating with the Class of 1984. For most of her adult life, Melody made her home in Ripon, California, where she raised her son, Derrel Paul Reaves. Later, she moved to Oklahoma to be closer to her son while he was serving in the United States Army.

Growing up, Melody was adventurous, incredibly curious, and strong-willed. As a mother, she offered care, guidance, and unconditional love—especially during her son’s early years. She will be remembered for her deep compassion for animals, particularly cats, her love of colorful birds, and the tenderness she carried into everyday life, which touched everyone around her.

Melody was a devoted Christian and loved spending time studying the Bible. Her faith was the foundation of her life. She found great comfort and strength in God’s Word and lived with a quiet trust in His promises. While her family mourns her passing, they rejoice in the assurance that she is now at peace in the presence of her Savior, reunited with loved ones who went before her.

Family and friends knew her as loving, kind, and generous, with a truly big heart.

She is survived by her son, Derrel Paul Reaves, Jr.; her sisters, Leana Hagmann, Ellie Hurley, and Laonia Jaime; her brother, Mark Hagmann; her lifelong best friend, Nathalie Noland; and her beloved cats, Little Joe and Mia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mel and Ilene Hagmann, and her brother, Mel Hagmann, Jr.
