Darrell Werther

The services celebrating and honoring the life of Darrell Werther Jr. will be held privately at a later date. Complete cremation care and services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings, a life celebration home.

Darrell was born January 26, 1953, to Robert “Bob” Darrell Sr. and Virginia Gula Werther in Borger, Texas and passed from this life June 6,2026 in Enid, Oklahoma.

He was raised and educated in Borger, Texas graduating from Borger High School with the class of 1971. He was awarded a full scholarship in baseball as a pitcher to Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma. He graduated from Phillips with a bachelor’s degree in physical education He married Mary De Loe in 1973. Two sons were born to this union, Darrell Lee and Robert Dae Werther. Darrell began his oilfield career as a mud engineer, later starting his own drilling fluids company, W & W Drilling fluids company. He was employed by Earlsboro for a time. Darrell started RDW Drilling fluids, LLC finishing his career as a mud engineer and company man for Paul Youngblood and Union Valley Petroleum Company.

When his sons were growing up, he coached their baseball teams. He was an avid hunter and bass fisherman. He loved spending time in his “man” cave and riding his motorcycle. When he retired, he loved spending time on his lake front property in Texas, enjoying the outdoors, wildlife and fishing.

He is survived by his longtime companion Sherry Skidmore, of Enid; two sons Dae Werther and Darrell Lee and his wife Elsa Werther, all of Edmond, Oklahoma. One granddaughter, Cambree Werther; and his bonus family including, Seth Skidmore, of Enid, Tiffany and Mycah Skidmore, of Enid, and Tom and Judy Poole, of Miami, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be made in his honor to Hospice Circle of Love with Brown-Cummings, serving as custodian of the funds.
