Services celebrating and honoring the life of Rodney VanBuskirk will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday January 10, 2026, in the Brown-Cummings Chapel with Pastor Gary Miller officiating. A visitation will be held Friday 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. January 9, 2026, at Brown-Cummings. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings, a life celebration home.
Rodney was born May 4, 1953, to Harley and Berneita Ruth (Bennett) VanBuskirk in Enid, Oklahoma and passed from this life January 4, 2026.
Rodney was raised and educated in Enid, graduating from Carrier High School with the class of 1971. He began working for Bond Bakery (later called Rainbow) working on the production line. In 1979 he began his career at Farmland where he worked as a mechanic until his retirement in 2000. Rodney was a “Jack of all trades” enjoying taking things apart to see how they worked and sometimes putting them back together. He was an avid photographer and cameraman. He was a frequent contributor to Enid’s local public broadcast channel, volunteering as a live cameraman for area sports as well as other film work. After retirement Rodney enjoyed playing guitar, restoring children’s bicycles and was a member of the Van Buren Cruisers, a classic car club where he and his wife Leslye enjoyed sharing their vintage cherry-red VW Beetle.
He is survived by wife Leslye (Mullikin) VanBuskirk of Enid; son Chris VanBuskirk, his wife Caity and daughter Maesen of Norman; sister Rosalie Evans and husband Bob, of Billings; brother Russell VanBuskirk and wife Marilyn, of Enid; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He is preceded in death by parents Harley and Berneita VanBuskirk, granddaughter Madison VanBuskirk, sister LouElla VanBuskirk; and nephew Todd Hemphill.Memorials may be made in his honor to the Enid SPCA or the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital with Brown-Cummings serving as custodian of the funds.Condolences and special memories may be shared with the family online at WWW.BrownCummings.com.
