The services celebrating and honoring the life of Ronnie Howerton, 77, of Garber, will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday December 8, 2025, in the Garber First Baptist Church with Pastor Tom LeGrand officiating. Complete cremation care and services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings, A life celebration home.
Ronnie was born October 8, 1948 to Raymond and Doris (Schreiner) Howerton in Fairview, Oklahoma and passed from this life December 1, 2025 in Garber, Oklahoma.
He was raised and educated throughout Northern Oklahoma graduating from Enid High School with the class of 1966. After graduating he moved to Oklahoma City and graduated from Auto Mechanic School. He then returned to the Enid area and began working with his father at Koch Pipeline. He married Claudia Williams October 19, 1969, from this union came two children, Dawn and Wesley. In 1970 he began working at Stuart Pontiac and Cadillac until beginning his career in 1988 at Koch Fertilizer, formerly known as Farmland, where he worked his way up to Operator, retiring in 2008.
He was a true outdoorsman, hunting, fishing, gardening, and doing all things outside. He was also a taxidermist in younger years. His latest enjoyment for the last sixteen years has been Competition Cowboy Shooting where he was known as “Virgil Wade” and won awards. Although he enjoyed all of this, his grandchildren brought him the greatest joy.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Claudia Howerton, of the home, one daughter Dawn Bowen (Dewayne), of Garber; one son Wesley Howerton (Sasha), of Enid, three grandchildren, Daytan Cottrell, Elle Howerton, and Hutch Howerton; his siblings, Larry Howerton (Carolyn), Kenny Howerton (Rhonda), and Marion Howerton (Kay); and numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Doris Howerton.
Memorials may be made in his honor to Garber Public Schools Library with Brown-Cummings Serving as custodian of the funds.
